Le Mas de Mon Père L’insolite 2012 Languedoc-Roussillon, France
£21.40
Made solely from Malbec grapes, L’insolite has non of the heaviness one might expect from such a wine. Deep and intense dark fruits with concentration and structure. As always with Frederic, the wine remains elegant and lively. If you like pigeon, that’s the wine to drink with it.
About the winemaker
Le Mas de mon Père is located in the Malepère appellation – the appellation found at the most western point of the Languedoc region in France. Frédéric Palacios runs his five hectares of vines organically and grows eight different varieties on lime-clay soils: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carignan, Malbec, Cinsault, Grenache and Chasan. The local climate is a combination of maritime and Mediterranean climates. Frédéric, who is also a talented golf player, made his first vintage at Le Mas de mon Père in 2005. Just like him, his wines display energy and a heart-warming and complex personality.
