About the winemaker
Domaine Jean-Claude Rateau is located in Beaune, in the French region of Burgundy. After he gained experience in the Beaujolais and Bordeaux, Jean-Claude took over his family’s two hectares of vines in 1979. Since the beginning Jean-Claude has been working biodynamically, collaborating with renowned specialist of soils microbiology, Claude Bourguignon. Nowadays, with 15 parcels, the domain is spread over 12 different terroirs on clay-lime soils, producing a whole range of red and white wines, including three ‘1er Cru’.
