Domaine François Dumas Saint Joseph 2013 Northern Rhône, France
£26.10
Full of life and elegance, this is a delicious Syrah offering gamey and spicy notes. Sructured and polished, this was very finely crafted by François.
About the winemaker
François Dumas created his domain in 2010. His cellar is located in Véranne, a small commune in the Loire department, 19 km south-west from Condrieu. The domain is planted with Viognier, Syrah and Gamay. François grew up in a restaurant. His father was working the land but François wanted to become a physical education teacher. Instead he became a winemaker. From the beginning François has been working organically. He vinifies with 60-80% whole bunch and very little sulphur is added. Indigenous yeasts are ‘de rigueur’. François produces wonderful red and white wines within the St Joseph and the Condrieu appellations.
