Hello everyone and happy March! This month isn’t just the one where our Valentine’s wishes and promises come true, but also a pretty important moment in the wine production cycle: after the Winter rest (read here why Winter is crucial in the vineyard), the vineyard is waking up and starting the growth process. In March the vines start their so-called “cry”: their awakening is characterised by a clear liquid coming out of the spots where the plants have been pruned.
While the vineyard evocatively “cries”, we can still smile and enjoy some outstanding wines, waiting for nature to take its course. As every month, we selected for you some of our best natural wines at a special price: is there anything better? We doubt it! 😉
Searching for a refreshing, fruity, interesting alternative to Champagne? Taste the Sicilian way, with this sparkling Terzavia Metodo Classico from the Marco De Bartoli estate and you won’t regret it: this dry vintage sparkling wine is made with lively Grillo variety grapes organically grown in the marvellous 20 ha winery near the famous wine town of Marsala. The special part is not just the growth but the production itself as well, as the grapes are manually selected and fermented by the action of wild yeast and a minimal quantity of sulphites. Before reaching your glass, this wine is aged at least 18 months.
We continue our selection jumping from a twist in the French Champagne tradition, as the previous wine is, to a French wine: Petit Chaperon is a rose wine structured and refined, with a great balance, therefore ideal to accompany your best aperitifs, delicately spicy dishes and fish and shellfish dinners. Create by a perfect balance of 50% Cinsault and 50% Chenanson grape varieties, this wine comes from the Le Loup Blanc biodynamic farm located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France. An outstanding and unique bottle of biodynamic rose wine, don’t miss it at our special price.
From Lombardy, a region in the North of Italy, comes a special natural red wine with some incredible features: from its ruby shades to the pronounced nose of ripe red fruits, black cherry, blackberry, spicy notes, Castellare by Castello di Stefanago is an outstanding example fo Cabernet Sauvignon. Savoury, balanced and meaty, this wine intertwines the organic tradition with a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, getting the best in the aroma, taste and organoleptic features. A true pride for the Azienda Agricola Vitivinicoli Castello di Stefanago and the entire Oltrepo Pavese, where it is located.
Another French wine, another bottle travelling to the UK from the marvellous Languedoc-Roussillon region. With a long saline finish and hints of greengage and lime, every bottle of L’Année Blanc is the perfect match for aperitif, fish and Asian and spicy food: ideal for the warm season ahead of us. This white and dry biodynamic wine is made with 65% Macabeu, 30% Grenache Gris and 5% Muscat grapes in the Les Clos Perdus domain and it is suitable for vegans.
