CompareAbout the winemaker
I Custodi delle Vigne dell’Etna is a winery located in a very particular position, in one of the most characteristic areas of Sicily: the slopes of the Etna volcano. Managed by the oenologist Salvo Foti – who is also the promoter of the “Vigneri” consortium that groups Etna winemakers who cultivate the historic vines of the territory in a natural way and according to tradition – I Custodi delle Vigne dell’Etna winery draws strength from the uniqueness of the volcanic terrain, with mineral soil and the unique climate that combines the cold of the mountains and the Sicilian sun.
The vineyards are distributed between 650 and 1,200 meters above sea level, and the vines – some centenary – are planted with sapling on ancient lava terraces, with high density per hectare. The vines struggle to survive in these sandy soils, but the result reflects the passion and work in the vineyard: a precious catalogue of fruity, fresh and balanced Etna wines, with unique organoleptic characteristics thanks to the particular terroir.
