Cà del Vént Sospiri Lombardy, Italy
£40.65
Ripe apples and dried fruits aromas with hints of yeast on the nose. Rich and complex fruit on the palate with a refreshing acidity and a long dry finish. Ideal for aperitif or even for the whole meal. A very fine alternative to champagne.

CompareAbout the winemaker
Cà del Vént is a small, independent, artisanal, family-owned winery set in Cellatica, on the eastern border of Franciacorta in Lombardy, Italy. The six hectares of vineyards enjoy a west-facing exposure on top of the Campiani hills. With quite steep slopes this is a unique, windy and dry microclimate (Cà del Vént means “house of wind”) with a clay and limestone-rich soil. The domain is run following the biodynamic approach. No machine is allowed in the vineyards nor synthetic chemical products and the grapes are harvested by hand. Very low yields are produced and Cà del Vént actually harvests less than half of what the appellation rules allow. Compromises are also banished in the cellar where a very artisanal approach is followed by not manipulating nor adding anything to the wines. Cà del Vént cultivates the traditional local grape varieties such as the red Cellatica, Barbera, Marzemino, Schiava Gentile and Incrocio Terzi.
